If you are in a job position where you are doing exactly what you love, take a moment and thank God right now. Seriously. I am so overwhelmingly grateful to be doing what I love and have now embarked, with Ty and our good friends, on a new movement called Antioch Temecula. Our vision is bringing those distant from God near to Jesus in spirit and truth worship.
Our hearts stem from the book of John 4:
“Believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
I am of the opinion that different churches serve different purposes. There are some that serve as the intellectual bridge for skeptics, some that serve as outreaches that expose the Gospel more specifically to a certain demographic, others that focus more on discipleship and establishing of the believer, and others that try to combine all the elements. This could ignite a whole debate on which is good, better, best, but regardless, they are all trying to do the same thing: proclaim the name of Jesus.
At Antioch, we are no different. We proclaim Jesus to all generations and people types, hit hard issues head on, and respond in passionate corporate worship. It's one of those things you just need to be there and experience it. So if you're in the So. Cal area, come on down!
We're going through a series dissecting New Atheism and the Church. [All sessions are being recorded so you can get them on our Facebook.]
